Pedicure, Shellac Manicure, Knightsbridge, London

If you are looking for a manicure or pedicure in Knightsbridge or London, then why not take a look at what Derma Medica has to offer? We offer a variety of manicures and pedicures, including the amazing Shellac Manicure. Please read below to find out more about our selection of treatments.

Bio Sculpture Gel

Bio Sculpture Gel is applied as an overlay onto natural nails by a qualified nail technician. The permanent colour gel is strong and flexible, with a glossy finish, lasting for up to three weeks. Bio Sculpture Gel is an advanced nail treatment that strengthens and conditions nails. The flexible coating moves with the nails, protecting them, whilst allowing them to grow without breaking.

Shellac Manicure

A new manicure treatment, the Shellac Manicure promises smudge-proof nail colour that lasts for weeks without chipping; some call it a manicure miracle! As a part of our range of manicures and pedicures, we offer the amazing Shellac Manicure in Knightsbridge and London. The slick new polish is the buzz of the manicure industry – the special formula, called Shellac, brushes on just like regular nail polish. Nails are prepped in the same manner as a basic manicure. But the polish stays on, chip-free, for weeks. A spokesperson for the manufacturer told Derma Medica that you can leave it on for a month if you want. You only need to change polish when new growth starts showing, and that’s typically after about 14 days.

Shellac is the brain child of a California company called Creative Nail Design, more commonly known as CND. The company says it spent five years perfecting the product. Shellac is frequently described as a hybrid of the popular gel manicure.

With gels, a thick substance is applied to the nail to build up a new surface. The gel is hardened under UV light, then smoothed and sculpted with an electric file before adding polish. Until now, gels have been the “hot new thing” in nail care.

But gels get low marks from many consumers because of the potential nail damage that can result from soaking nails and fingers in strong acetone, and abrasive filing to remove the gel residue.

Shellac offers a more nail-friendly solution by taking gel to the next level – no sculpting or filing, just thin coats of polish on your natural nail, with a brief time for curing under a UV lamp between every coat. The UV is used for 10 seconds after the base coat, and two minutes each between the two coats of colour and the top coat.

On like polish, wears like gel and you’re ready to go!

Sixtuwohl Pedicure Deluxe

An intensive foot treatment. After performing the pedicure, a Sixtuwohl ‘collo-peel’ is applied for easy removal of all calluses, followed by a foot mask which leaves the skin smooth and hydrated. The final touch is a polish of your choice.

Hot Paraffin Wax Treatment

Paraffin waxing is a luxurious treatment that is intended to moisturise and soften the skin. It is an optional extra when booking a manicure or pedicure.

Paraffin wax is not like “warm” or “hot” wax that is used for hair removal on the face and body. That type of wax is much more viscous and bonds to the skin. Paraffin wax is a softer wax because of the paraffin oil component. As it is a soft wax, it melts at a lower temperature, so this means that the skin can be treated with the wax without causing burning or blistering. During paraffin wax treatments, we paint the melted wax onto your hands or feet several times to create a thick layer.

The hands or feet are then wrapped in plastic, or some other non-absorbent material and left to 'soak' in the layer of wax for up to 30 minutes.

Paraffin wax treatments are particular popular in the winter because they are warming and they provide a great deal of moisture to dry and cracked skin. During paraffin wax treatments, the skin is bathed in warmth, which helps the pores to open and the skin soften.

Once the skin has been allowed to soak in the wax and the layer has hardened, it can be pulled off in one solid piece. Because the wax is soft and contains oil, it does not become very stiff and does not adhere to the skin. After the paraffin wax treatment the skin is left slick and soft.
