Teeth grinding, also referred to as Bruxism, can be caused by anxiety, stress, sleep disorders or a range of other medical conditions.
About this condition
It can take place while either asleep or awake with symptoms that include worn teeth enamel, tooth sensitivity, tight jaws muscles, headache, sleep disruption and tinnitus. In some cases it can cause sufficient noise to keep the sufferer or their partner awake during the night.
We will evaluate the cause of your teeth grinding at your patient consultation and then make suitable treatment recommendations. For many patients we may recommend small Botox injections to relax the muscles in the jaw area that are causing the grinding to occur. This treatment can be very effective with initial results showing within days.
