Wide Jaw

A wide jaw is either caused by a large jaw bone (mandible) or an enlarged masseter muscle, which is the jaw muscle that we use for chewing.

Wide Jaw
About this condition
Genetics, excessive or constant chewing, teeth grinding (bruxism) or clenched teeth can all be causes of an enlarged or square jaw which can make the face appear masculine in form.
Treatment for this condition is given using injections of Botox to relax the masseter muscle, which in turn softens the appearance of the jaw and overtime reduces the size of the muscle itself. Dermal fillers may also be recommended. For long-term results a course of treatments is recommended and this, the specifics of your condition and the full benefits of this treatment will be discussed with you at your patient consultation.
