About this treatment

Botox works by blocking the signals from the nerve to the muscles, which stops the muscles contracting, causing lines and wrinkles to relax and soften. Only very small amounts of Botox are injected with a fine needle into specific muscles. No anaesthetic is required and treatment takes a matter of minutes.

Botox is ideal for treating fine lines and wrinkles caused by ageing on the face and neck and for treating a range of common conditions including crow’s feet, vertical lip lines and a gummy smile. Regular treatments are required for on-going results.

We also use Botox injections to treat excess sweating (hyperhidrosis), a wide jaw and grinding teeth.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is this treatment right for me?

If you want to reduce or soften fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck with fast results and no downtime, this may be the treatment for you. Botox is not suitable if you are breast feeding, pregnant or undergoing certain medical treatments. This will be discussed with you at your consultation.
  • How does this treatment work?

Botox is derived from the bacteria, Clostridium Botulinum. It works by temporarily paralysing the muscles, stopping them from contracting and resulting in fine lines or wrinkles softening or disappearing altogether. Botox works in the same way for other conditions such as wide jaw, excess sweating and grinding teeth, relaxing the muscles that are causing the condition.
  • Will I feel any pain during my treatment?

Mild discomfort maybe felt when injections are made.
  • Are there any side effects or risks associated with this treatment?

Some minimal bruising or inflammation may appear at the points where injections have been made. These will usually settle quickly and disappear.
